Governmental and supra national institutional challenges

On behalf of its clients, Carter-Ruck is bringing challenges on human rights grounds against not only UK and foreign governments but also supra national institutions. Cases being handled by the firm include ongoing legal proceedings against the institutions of the EU, the Council of the European Union and the Commission of the European Communities, on the basis that the EU has not followed the requirements of due process as laid down in Article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights; defending criminal investigations by foreign governmental authorities; contesting civil actions brought against clients by foreign governments; challenging administrative measures by UK and foreign governments, including bringing judicial review proceedings on grounds of breach of European Convention on Human Rights; and bringing an action against the prosecutor of a foreign government before a Federal Court.
