Antonia
Foster
Antonia trained with Carter-Ruck and qualified in 2001.
Antonia advises a wide variety of potential Claimants, from the high-profile to the less well-known, in defamation and privacy/breach of confidence cases, and in all other aspects of media litigation and reputation management.
Antonia has successfully secured apologies and settlements on behalf of numerous clients, and often without the need to issue proceedings. Where settlement has not proved possible Antonia has been involved in running matters to trial. One recent example includes the Loreena McKennitt case, in which Antonia assisted Mark Thomson, in Ms McKennitt's successful privacy claim. Following an appeal by the Defendants the Court of Appeal unanimously upheld the decision of the trial judge, and the subsequent appeal court judgment is widely considered to be one of the most significant privacy decisions to date.
Antonia does not only undertake Claimant work, and has recently acted on behalf of a photographic journalist, sued by David and Victoria Beckham in respect of aerial photographs taken of their house.
Antonia also regularly provides pre-publication advice on libel, privacy and copyright issues for a variety of clients.
In 2006 Antonia qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate.
