Peter read social and political sciences and international relations at the University of Cambridge before converting to the law at City University, London, and the Inns of Court School of Law. He joined Carter-Ruck in 2013 after working in technology and construction and professional indemnity litigation.
Peter practises predominantly in commercial litigation but has also assisted in media law cases in defamation and privacy.
He has advised on a variety of commercial disputes including professional negligence actions and claims arising from breaches of contract, e.g. in disputes between businesses over revenue streams, the provision of televisual media services, and bank lending agreements.
Peter worked as part of a team representing the joint liquidators of a company in a substantial professional negligence claim against a ‘Silver circle’ law firm arising out failed underlying litigation. The litigation settled in the claimant’s favour after almost two years.
Peter has acted for a range of private individuals, domestic and international entities, and has helped small- and medium-sized enterprises, sole traders and family businesses successfully obtain redress from banks for mis-sales of interest rate hedging products.
He speaks intermediate French and is a member of the South Eastern Circuit and the London Common Law and Commercial Bar Association.
