Cameron Doley studied at The Queen's College, Oxford, where he took a First in Modern History. Having undertaken postgraduate research at Oxford and then converted to the law at the College of Law in London, he commenced his articles at Carter-Ruck in 1990. He became a partner in 1995. He is now the firm's Managing Partner.

His specialism is in defamation and related media issues, acting for both claimants and defendants. Claimant clients include a strong Arab and Middle East component, and Cameron acts for a significant number of governments, heads of state and leading politicians across the Arab world. His domestic clients include prominent figures in the world of politics, business and sport as well as members of the general public.

During 2003, Cameron's team secured victories at trial for both Sheikh Rashid Ghannouchi (the leader in exile of the Tunisian opposition - £61,000 damages plus injunction and costs) and Jenifer Howlett (a local politician who was the victim of a campaign involving the publication of libellous banners towed behind a millionaire scrap dealer's private aircraft - £65,000 damages plus injunction and costs). These two results represent the highest jury awards obtained in all libel actions during 2003. In common with much of Cameron's claimant work, both cases were conducted on a no win, no fee basis.

In 2004, Cameron assumed conduct of the long running libel claim brought by Sheikha Mouza Al Misnad (wife of the Emir of Qatar) against the international newspaper Azzaman. The case settled before trial upon terms involving the publication of a front page apology and payment of more than £500,000.

Other noteworthy and reported cases include Esquire ats Reichmann, Skuse -v- Granada, HTV ats Welsh Rugby Union and Windsor -v- Express.

Cameron also undertakes a significant amount of human rights work. He is currently involved in cases arising out of the events of 11th September against the governments of the United Kingdom and the United States and against the European Commission and in the presentation of submissions to the United Nations.
