Lawrence works primarily in the firm’s International Law and Commercial Litigation teams. He advises domestic and international clients on international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration and litigation before the courts of England and a variety of other jurisdictions.

Lawrence is representing Al Jazeera in its dispute with Egypt under the 1999 Qatar-Egypt Bilateral Investment Treaty before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes. Lawrence has also represented Mobile TeleSystems in its ICSID Arbitration against Uzbekistan.

Lawrence has advised on a number of commercial litigation cases in the High Court including claims for breach of contract and financial misselling. His practice also focuses on Public International Law cases, including in the context of complaints brought under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Lawrence also has experience of advising on potential claims under bilateral investment treaties.

Lawrence also has substantial experience of international commercial arbitration, including under the LCIA, ICC and other rules. He has represented a State as one of the Respondents to a substantial LCIA Arbitration relating to an alleged professional services agreement and is representing a major Middle Eastern bank in a multi-million LCIA arbitration relating to a loan and guarantee.
