Al Jazeera has served a formal Notice of Dispute on Egypt pursuant to the 1999 Qatar-Egypt Bilateral Investment Treaty, asserting that Egypt is in breach of its Treaty obligations and international law generally and claiming compensation in a sum in excess of US$150million.

If the dispute is not resolved within 6 months, the matter will be referred to international arbitration under the rules of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes.
